In 1994, the nation’s first program to help children afflicted with dyslexia was launched by the Scottish Rite of the Northern Jurisdiction and Massachusetts General Hospital’s Language Disorders Unit.  

Since they created the Children’s Dyslexia Center (CDC), they’ve been the national leaders in helping children and their families overcome the challenges faced by dyslexia.  

The CDC has grown to more than 40 separate centers, including New York City, across 13 states.  In each center, the nationally recognized programs feature a variety of highly qualified teachers who provide free instruction to deal directly with the challenges of dyslexia.

The operation of the CDC is based upon the following three humanitarian pledges:

• To help children with dyslexia learn to read and to reach their full potential;

• To help their families end the frustration, guilt and disruption caused by dyslexia;

• To help communities by developing Children’s Dyslexia Centers to help children succeed in and out of school.
